Our Story
Lima Nikkei was created by Founder and Owner Edwin Sandoval from a family love of food, culture, and bringing people together around the table. Inspired by the meeting of Peruvian and Japanese culinary traditions, our restaurant celebrates the vibrant flavors of Peru alongside the precision, balance, and craftsmanship of Japanese cuisine.
Our name reflects the spirit of Lima, a city known for its rich culinary culture and its deep connection to Nikkei cuisine. Over generations, Peruvian ingredients and Japanese techniques came together to create a style of cooking that is fresh, expressive, and full of character. Lima Nikkei carries that spirit to Mill Valley, California, creating a place where tradition feels welcoming, contemporary, and shared.
From our family to the Mill Valley community, every dish is prepared as an invitation to gather. Our menu includes sushi, tiradito, ceviche, robata, katsu, and cocktails—each offering a different expression of the flavors we love.
